Pheasants eye - Narcissus

April, 2003

This is a very old fashioned narcissus, but one of the loveliest. It blooms later in the daffodil season, and has the most wonderful perfume. Sometimes it comes as a surprise that daffodils do have scent, but many of them are quite strongly perfumed. By the time the later ones open, they need to compete with other flowers for the attention of bees and insects to pollinate them - hence good odours.
