Purple drumstick - Allium 'Purple Sensation'

Each flower head of these ornamental onions, is made up of a large number of little purple flowers, in the centre of each is the potential seed. By the end of the summer they are pale golden brown, dry and each seed is a little black, hard speck. They make excellent indoor decorations for the winter - but this show is what they are grown for, making a wonderful contrast to the surrounding foliage.
