Purple bellflower - Campanula glomerata
June, 2007
It is a good idea sometimes to look well at a plant which is grown just about everywhere, and see why. This very ordinary bellflower is just a perfect colour, its form is beautiful and the bees love it. What more could you want to recommend it?
It is true that campanulas on the whole do seed themselves around, this one does so, but quite gently, and is easy enough to recognise and remove if you don't want it where it pops up - this one we are quite happy with beside the path.
