Pink gladiolus - Acidanthera Homoglossum
August, 2008
Gladioli have had a bad press over recent years, being dismissed as only suitable for the allotment, or being coarse and common. Fine, I like them, and if you take the trouble to grow them in a mixed bed, and actually look at each flower, then they are very lovely indeed. This pink one grew among the spent leaves of earlier camassia, thus lightening, with its companions what would otherwise have been a dull summer bed.
