Orange velvet flower - Rudbeckia fulgens
October, 2008
The glowing colours of the late season rudbeckias are superb in the autumn garden, bringing a glow and warmth to rapidly cooling gardens. The petals not only look like velvet but feel like them too when gently stroked.
They die down at the end of the season and remain dormant until the Spring when the rather coarse foliage begins to come again, followed later by the glowing flowers.
