Clematis recta (Purple leafed clematis)

Foliage (2007)

During the very wet and windy early part of 'summer' this year 2007, this clematis recta was quietly climbing from its pot, through the climbing hydrangea as it always does. The wind came along and blew the leaves over, giving a quite different view of the two types of foliage together. The deep, dark purple of the almost matt leaves from the clematis lying over the curly hydrangea leaves are simply wonderful - couldn't have done better if we'd tried!
