  • Q: Can you help me with my garden?

A: I am not a professional gardener, but I will try to answer any e-mails to the best of my ability. I love to hear from gardening people and what they think about my garden!

  • Q: Can you turn people to stone with one withering look?

A: No, but I do keep trying. wouldn't you just love to be able to do that?

  • Q: Do you find things to do in the garden all year round?

A: Yes indeed, though if the weather is really beyond going outside, there are always the new catalogues and seed lists to read. In fact, much pruning and dividing of established herbaceous plants is best done at this time, when they are dormant. The siting of new fruit trees and bushes is best done in winter, either late autumn or early spring. In the Spring and Summer of course, gardening can be almost non-stop - how wonderful.

  • Q: Why do we mulch?

A: To keep our plants warm in winter. cool in summer, and to preserve moisture in the ground during dry spells. It also helps suppress weeds, and those weeds which do germinate in the mulch are very much easier to remove, without disturbing the roots of the desired plant. It also looks nice!

  • Q: Would you be offended if I gave you some gardening tips?

A: Not at all! As I say, I am not a professional gardener and would appreciate any comments you have - gardening is my passion and I would love to increase my knowledge.
